Arthritic Athlete Program

Dealing with osteoarthritis can be a debilitating, chronic ailment that alters one's life.  Dr Carfagno takes the holistic approach and manages every aspect of your arthritis, including the physical, mental and emotional.  

​After your initial visit, which includes a thorough joint evaluation and of the kinetic chain, radiographs and/or possibly advanced imaging (MRI) will be ordered to assess your grade of arthritis.  You'll return to review those images and discuss treatment which includes:

Platinum Program

  1. Gait Analysis & ​Physical Therapy.  Gait Analysis is a scientific approach to evaluating the body in motion and assessing each joint in the gait (walk) cycle.  This is very helpful in customizing your physical therapy.
  2. Platelet Rich Plasma and/or Amniogenic injections via Ultrasound Guidance. Given once a month for 2-3 months aimed at relieving the inflammation of arthritis and possibly assisting in cartilage growth of the joint.
  3. Osteoarthritis Bracing Package.
    1. ​Custom DonJoy Unloader brace for everyday wear
    2. Donjoy Reaction for activity and sport
    3. Cryo sleeve for icing after
  4. ​Neurostim Cymedical Unit for use with exercise to assist muscle atrophy
  5. Metagenics Glucosamine/Chondroitin 

 

Gold Program

  2. Hyaluronic Acid (HA) Injections.  Your body makes HA and with arthritic joints, the concentration of HA decreases.  These are administered once a week for 3 consecutive weeks via Ultrasound Guidance.
