LEONA CARFAGNO "MOM"
Leona is Dr Carfagno's Mom. In 2003 when he left a prominent orthopedic group and went on his own, she was very integral in starting up his practice. Her passions are singing in the opera, raising her grandchildren, and truly enjoys working with people. Dr Carfagno really enjoys having his Mom work with him in the office. There is a family energy when you are part of the clinic and that compassionate and caring touch is what dignifies the brand of SSMI.
Lynn moved to Arizona in January 1979 from New York. She received her certification in Medical Assisting that same year.
She did her externship with Pappago Buttes Pediatric in Scottsdale. She has worked in pediatrics, cardiology, family practice, was the Health Ministry Director at her church for 7 years, and assisted with troubled youth counseling before joining Scottsdale Sports Medicine.
Her areas of special interest are the Cardiac Cath Lab and Stem cell research. She has received certifications in Faith Health Ministry, Instructor in Bone Builders from U of A, Certified Emergency Response Team (CERT) with Tempe Fire.
She enjoys hiking, swimming, baseball, football and spending time with her family.
Heather was born and raised in Scottsdale Arizona. She has been working in the medical field since 2002 and grew up in a "family of medicine". She is going back to school to work towards her PA in January 2016. She spends a lot time with her family and dogs (Tonka- Great Dane and Ryder- Bullmastiff). She is expecting her first child August 26, 2015.
Kallan is a Medical Practitioner from South Africa. She completed her degree at the University of Pretoria in 2010. Since then, Kallan has been working at various hospitals and health clinics, rotating through all the disciplines of medicine. Most recently, Kallan worked as a Ship Physician and met her husband whilst working on board. She moved to Arizona in November 2015 and is currently studying for her second board exam. She will be applying for a residency position at the end of this year.
Rachel Jablon-Margalit RMST
Rachel is a specialist in musculoskeletaI ultrasound since 2000. Rachel received her training through Thomas Jefferson University and additionally, has attended many specialty workshops and advanced level training courses. Rachel is a published author on the topic of MSK ultrasound and has helped devise MSK ultrasound training curriculums and programs. She has performed over 10,000 ultrasound exams and needle guidance procedures. With a passion for horses, Rachel, in her free time, can be found with her two beautiful daughters roping and riding! And now her new lab puppy is part of the scene!
